Recorded in Chicago 18 Feb 1946. Gillum was one of THE blues harmonica players and along with the first Sonny Boy Williamson was a major influence on all those 1950s Chicago guys. Gillum was a mainstay at RCA/Bluebird throughout the 1930s and 1940s and his high pitched harp appeared on a lot of records. Jimmy Reed must have been influenced by his sound but Gillum was a much much more versatile player than Reed. Gillum best known for his "Key To The Highway" recorded with Big Bill Broonzy, revived successfully by Little Walter nearly twenty years later.
